Introduction: A Name with Meaning

Hello! My full name is Hilda Gathoni Pepeno, but my friends and family have a variety of affectionate nicknames for me. They often call me Hillie, and some prefer Peps or Pepsi, thanks to my surname.

A Legal Mind with Creative Passions

Professionally, I’m a lawyer, currently awaiting admission as an Advocate of the High Court and certified as a Professional Mediator. My career is just beginning, but I’m excited about the opportunities ahead.

A Glimpse into My Personality

Hillie is a friendly, warm, and charismatic young woman. I’m embracing both my intellectual and creative sides, and I live by the motto: “Be your own kind of beautiful.” Every day, I’m learning what that truly means.

My Journey: How It All Began

My journey into content creation started with something simple—sharing family recipes online. What began as a small hobby turned into something much larger, expanding into lifestyle, fashion, and travel content.

Overcoming Challenges

“The hardest part was consistently showing up, even when I wasn’t sure what resonated with my audience.”

One major challenge was staying motivated when I wasn’t sure what my audience liked most. I constantly questioned whether I should keep going or stop altogether. To overcome this, I began asking for feedback, showing up authentically, and learning to take breaks when needed.

Prioritizing Self-Care and Wellness

For me, self-care is more than a luxury—it’s an escape and a way to recharge. I see it as pouring into myself, intentionally making time for it even when life feels overwhelming. It’s my way of keeping balanced amid the demands of a legal career and content creation.

What Beauty Means to Me

Beauty, in my eyes, is about what radiates from within and is unique to every individual. Growing up, I believed beauty was what I saw on TV—clear skin, a slim figure, and a “one-size-fits-all” ideal. But over time, I learned to embrace my acne, curves, and my own definition of beauty.

Advice for Young Women

To any young woman pursuing her dreams: chart your own path and embrace both your strengths and flaws—they’re all part of your story. Confidence doesn’t come from perfection; it comes from accepting every part of yourself.

My Go-To Skincare Routine

Having sensitive, acne-prone skin has taught me the importance of consistency. My daily routine involves cleansing, hydrating, and applying sunscreen. My must-have products include La Roche-Posay for sensitive skin and the L’Oréal Paris serum, which addresses my skincare concerns.

What’s Next for Me

I’m excited to continue growing my content creation brand in an authentic way while advancing in my legal career. The future is bright, and I’m ready to embrace every opportunity that comes my way.

Thank you to Sheilla and Revela for these thoughtful questions. Reflecting on my journey has been a powerful reminder of why I started.
